Elevator Rescue Training

The APEX Elevator rescue training program aims to equip those involved with elevator emergencies and entrapments to safely and successfully respond to those situations. Michael and Duncan are your elevator rescue trainers they draw upon 50 years of expertise and experience. They both have a passion for safety, education and eliminating risks wherever possible.

Apex has been conducting this training course since 2011 and has trained over 50 Fire Departments and Hospitals across British Columbia and Alberta. This course is ever evolving to keep up with changes in Elevator technology and Elevator Safety Codes to ensure we deliver the most up-to-date information and skills to our attendees.

We demonstrate the use of special elevator tools and keys, which can be made available after completing the training course.

Firefighter Training

At APEX, we understand Firefighters have a tremendous amount of responsibilities, elevator rescue being part of the mix. Our elevator entrapment training services works to make the rescue process systematic and practical. The training starts in the classroom to provide some important but basic elevator knowledge and rescue procedure items, however, the most important part of the training happens when we get to see actual elevators and simulate entrapments and have the firefighters work through the rescue process to get the passengers out. We teach firefighters how to recognize and mitigate risks. Our training materials is based on the North America Standard A17.4 Guidelines for Emergency Personnel and have been endorsed by the authority having jurisdiction over elevators.

Elevator Rescues in Hospitals

Due to demand from the industry, we have been asked to provide elevator rescue training for Hospital Technical Staff to act as first responders in the event of an elevator entrapment. Similar to the Firefighter training, but a bit more limited, we provide hands on training for Hospital Staff to evaluate and where possible, complete elevator rescues.
