Project
Royal Inland Hospital
Kamloops, BC
Project Overview

This project was completed in three stages and involved the modernization of the six (6) main elevators in the main tower of Kamloops Royal Inland Hospital. The grouping of the elevators has gone from two service elevators and three passenger elevators to three service elevators and three passengers to meet the needs of the reconfigured health care campus along with a new main visitor entrance on a different level. Elevators 5 and 6 were previously modernized by KONE roughly 10 years ago and we worked with KONE to modernize elevator 4 to split the elevators from 1, 2, 3 and group elevators 4 with 5 and 6 to make a new passenger group.

We worked with TCI, EllisDon and Interior Health Authority to modernize elevators 1, 2 and 3 as a new service elevator group that is inclusive of medical emergency operation, security integration, and robust cab interiors to meet the service requirements including indirect lighting to minimize the impact of lighting on patients in a prone position.
