Apex was engaged to provide an initial independent assessment and capital planning recommendations for six (6) overhead traction elevators - public and staff banks - at the RCH Health Care Centre. We have been working closely with FHA and other consultants on the design for related electrical, fire alarm, security, mechanical, structural, and infection control requirements. There have been some unique elements to this project, including phased procurement for each bank of three (3) elevators, separate procurement for major contractors (elevator, electrical, and general contractor), and solving installation challenges for the elevator serving the rooftop which has a different machine configuration. The staff bank is approaching completion in summer 2023 with the public bank starting construction in late 2023.
